Lady Macbeth

Why do people laugh when I tell them my retirement plans including buying a monster truck and going on the Monster Jam circuit??  I can totally picture myself in a big, black monster truck crushing cars and jumping over barrels.  Can't decide on the name - it's a toss up between "Lady MacBeth" and "Lady MacDeath."   Your vote??   A better suggestion?

Here's my advice for today: There are two possessions one should never count - shoes or books. You see my friend, counting these items creates a impossible situation. No matter what number you come up with, it doesn't seem like enough to the owner. And no matter what number you come up with, friends and family will express astonishment and think you're excessive. The reality is that one can never own too many shoes, or too many books. Shoes turn the mundane work day into something fun and exciting. Having the right shoes for an occasion not only helps to smooth social interactions, but it marks a person as professional and caring about his/her appearance. Plus, shoes are just cool. As for books, if one has a book, one is never alone. Books allow the reader to travel the world and examine life's conflicts and passions without having to enter into dangerous situations. Today

Today was "one of those" days. Frozen drain pipes, trips to dentists, cars not starting, puppy pooping in place puppies shouldn't poop, cold water in the shower - you name it. The upside is that my husband had to spend part of the day at home dealing with the "stuff." So got to snuggle him and take a nap while he worked. Today I'm wondering what got into me to start this massive organizing project and whether I can bring myself to finish it. boys will be boys

A friend brought her 7 year old boy over to play with my 7 year old boy while she and her husband went to a peaceful dinner.  The boys are a lot alike; both are only children (Jed in basic terms, since he's so much younger than his sisters who are only here part of the time).  They're used to playing by themselves, used to being around adults (hence great vocabularies on them both) and used to having no one to rough house with.  As such, they're roughhousing.  Within minutes of meeting one another they had open the toy weapons tub and were chasing each other through the house.  Since that time they've made fart jokes, wrestled, chased each other, shot each other, stabbed each other, fought and rolled around over the bean bag chair, run back and forth, tormented the dog and chased some more.  I'm pretty worried that, in the words of my mother, "someone is gonna end up crying."  But nothing is working to get them to stop. So maybe I need to not worry....
