Archtypes
All my teaching career, I worked with students to examine life through the lens of literature. One of the archetypal questions was, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" From Oedipus and the Greeks, to Job and the Hebrews, to the moderns, stories have chronicled the trials and tribulations of upright folks who get the shaft. As I sit here struggling with why my 8 year old nephew has cancer, I look for answers where I know. But just as in the books, there ain't any answers. Damn.
